Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms are entered into between you and Beijing Fuguang Biyu Internet Sales Store (sole proprietorship) ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing or using the Koru Press desktop application (the "Software"), or by accessing related services at koruform.com, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with any term, please stop installing and using the Software.
2. Product and Services
- Free parts: all writing features of the Software — editor, preview, export — and the built-in AI features (Beta Reader and others, in BYOK mode; AI service fees are settled between you and your chosen provider). Using the free features requires no account.
- Paid parts: the Theme Store. Themes are sold as one-time purchases; once purchased, the perpetual license for that theme follows your account.
- Platform: the Software is currently available for macOS only.
3. Accounts
- Purchasing or downloading store themes requires an account (currently email + password).
- You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials; acts performed under your account are deemed your acts. Contact us immediately if you suspect account misuse.
- Accounts are personal: do not lend, rent or sell them. Purchased themes under one account are for your own use on your own devices.
4. Theme License
Purchasing a theme grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license, with the following boundaries:
- You may: install and use the theme on all of your own devices; render and export your own works with the theme and publish them in any way — including commercially (e.g. publishing themed HTML output, or using it in client projects). Your content, and your use of your content, remain entirely yours.
- You may not: redistribute, resell or publicly distribute the theme files themselves (or modified versions); extract a theme's design, palette or style code to build derivative theme products for distribution or sale; reverse-engineer themes to circumvent these limits.
- Entitlements follow your account: theme ownership is recorded under your account; sign in on another device to re-download purchased themes. Offline use of installed themes is unaffected (unlimited offline grace).
- We do not revoke proactively: except as provided in Section 9 (sanctions for violations) or upon a completed refund / upheld payment dispute, we will not revoke entitlements you have purchased.
5. Purchase, Payment and Delivery
- Theme prices are displayed in RMB; the price shown on the order page prevails.
- Payment is completed through WeChat Pay or Alipay. We never handle or store your payment credentials.
- Immediate delivery: upon successful payment the app automatically downloads and installs the purchased theme; delivery is complete once the download and installation succeed. By completing a purchase you consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that, under Article 25 of the PRC Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests, digitally delivered goods downloaded online are not subject to the seven-day no-reason return right.
- Refunds are governed by the Refund Policy.
6. User Conduct
When using the Product and services, you shall not:
- create, copy, publish or distribute content that violates laws or regulations (you bear full responsibility for content you create and publish with the Software);
- reverse-engineer or decompile the Software, or circumvent technical protection measures such as download authorization and signature verification;
- obtain refunds fraudulently (e.g. falsely claiming non-delivery after delivery actually completed), or abuse payment-platform dispute mechanisms;
- disrupt or damage the normal operation of the services (including malicious requests or attacks against our servers).
7. Intellectual Property
- Your manuscripts are yours: all intellectual property in the content you create with the Software belongs entirely to you. We claim no rights over your manuscript content and use it for no purpose whatsoever (technically we cannot even access it — see the Privacy Policy).
- The Product and themes are ours: intellectual property in the Software (code, interface design) and in store themes belongs to us or the respective right holders and is protected by law. These Terms and the theme license grant only the rights expressly listed.
- AI output: rights in and conditions of use for output produced via BYOK AI features depend on the agreement between you and your chosen AI provider; we are not a party to that relationship.
8. AI Feature Terms
- AI features are provided "as is". AI output may contain errors, omissions or bias; you should exercise your own judgment and verify results. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy or completeness of AI output.
- Availability, billing and data handling of the AI provider are governed by that provider's own terms; we are not liable for interruptions, fees or data issues caused by the provider.
9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
- Free features are provided "as is" and "as available"; to the maximum extent permitted by law we make no other express or implied warranties.
- We are not liable for interruptions or losses caused by force majeure, your device or network environment, or third-party services (including your configured AI provider or payment channels), though we will do our best to help mitigate impact.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with the services is capped at the fees you actually paid for the theme(s) concerned. This clause does not exclude or limit liabilities that cannot be excluded by law (including liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or derogation of consumers' statutory rights).
- We recommend keeping your own backups of important manuscripts. The Software is a local application; we cannot recover — and are not liable for — local data lost to device failure or accidental operations.
10. Sanctions and Termination
- If you violate these Terms, we may issue warnings, restrict or suspend account services depending on severity; you remain liable for losses caused to others or to us.
- You may stop using the Software and delete your account at any time; personal information handling upon deletion is described in Section 7 of the Privacy Policy.
- Termination does not affect rights and obligations accrued before termination (including licenses of purchased themes during their term, except as otherwise provided in Section 4).
11. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time; revised Terms will be published on this page with an updated date. Material changes will be announced through a website notice or in-app prompt. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance; if you disagree, stop using the Product and services.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
The formation, validity, interpretation, performance and dispute resolution of these Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Disputes arising from these Terms shall first be resolved through friendly negotiation; if negotiation fails, either party may bring suit before the competent people's court at the place of the operator's domicile.
